Morgan Stanley Global Economic Forum - Argentina: What Has Changed?

It may seem odd to ask what has changed in Argentina. After all, in contrast with the nearly five-year collapse cumulating with double-digit declines in economic activity during most of last year, the Argentine economy is likely to post growth near 6% this year. Few economies around the globe and none in Latin America are likely to produce growth rates of that magnitude. Indeed, we are revising upward our GDP growth for 2003 to 5.8% from 2.5% previously, as the recovery has come sooner than we thought. We are also reducing next year’s growth to 4.3% from 9.0% as we bring forward the recovery.
